Tiruvannamalai is situated in between Katpadi and Viluppuram Junctions on the railway line.  It is well connected by road with various parts of country. During festival times Government Transport Corporation runs special buses from all parts of State. By car it will take four to five hours to reach Tiruvannamalai from the State Capital Chennai.
